Joshua Furman, DVM, Owner
Native to Orange County, Dr. Furman grew up in the town of Greenville and graduated from Minisink Valley Central School District. He attended Orange County Community College, SUNY Delhi, SUNY New Paltz, and the University of South Florida. Dr. Furman received his doctorate degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine located in St. Kitts, West Indies. He then finished his clinical year of schooling at the University of Minnesota in St. Paulf, Minnesota.
Many may recognize Dr. Furman from his work as a relief veterinarian in clinics through out the area. In addition to his relief work, Dr. Furman was an emergency veterinarian for 4 years at Orange County Animal Emergency Clinic. In May 2006, Dr. Furman fulfilled a life long dream of purchasing his clinic, Monhagen Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Furman lives in Middletown with his wife Jaimee and their dogs Hank, Arthur, and Benson; and their cats Fred and Ash. He enjoys snowmobiling, mountain biking, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Furman is proud to be the veterinarian for the Middletown Police K-9 Unit, the Orange County Arson K-9, as well as other K-9 units through out Orange and Sullivan County, and New York City.
In addition to his work as a veterinarian, Dr. Furman has been approached by a number of publishing companies fo the rights to his 400 page veterinary review book. This book focuses on assisting veterinarians to better prepare themselves for their National Board exam. Dr. Furman wrote this book while attending his final year of veterinary school at the University of Minnesota The review book has sold over 200 copies and is currently only available through the University of Minnesota Veterinary book store. Dr. Furman also contributes pet care articles to the Times Herald Record.
Dr. Furman is a professional member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Furman was recently featured on the CBS Early Show.
Hanel Sauter, DVM
Dr. Hanel-Sautter is originally from Long Island and became an Orange County resident after getting married in September 2012. She received an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Suffolk County Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Long Island University-C.W. Post. Dr. Hanel-Sautter received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine located in Grenada, West Indies. Where she was inducted into Phi Zeta, the Veterinary Honors Society and received the Pfizer Specialty Team Award for Internal medicine. She completed her clinical year at University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.
Upon completion Dr. Hanel-Sautter returned to Long Island and began practicing. She completed The Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification program and holds a USDA Accreditation and can provide International Health Certificates to pets. Dr. Hanel-Sautter is a professional member of New York State Veterinary Medical Association and The American Veterinary Medical Association
Dr. Hanel-Sautter lives in Unionville with her husband Jason Paul Sautter, Esq. and their two dogs, Bethel and Frosty, an African Sulcata tortoise, Sheldon, and a Red-eared Slider, Selma. She enjoys wine tasting, fishing, hiking and spending time with friends and family.
